Warm Hellos! I’m so excited to share with you Spiritual Fitness, my life-long dream project to help us keep on keepin’ on in these no-adequate-adjective times.
Spiritual Fitness is comprised of four separate modules, which build on each other but also stand alone. Each begins with an in-person learning weekend, followed by four weekly on-line drop-in practice and discussion sessions.
In Module One, we’ll be strengthening our capacity for unconditional Love & Compassion for ourselves and others, and for operating from a deeper understanding of Interdependence, even, especially, now.
In Module Two, we’ll be finding our North Star — the internal ethics, integrity, and courage we need to feel solid and confident to meet our deepest challenges. We’ll develop skills for keeping our moral compass trued to our North Star, even when the world around us has lost its way.
Module Three gives us skills for Managing Difficult Emotions (anger, fear, disgust, sadness, envy…) that naturally arise in our lives and our work in the world.
The program closes with Module Four, which fosters Wonder, Awe, Rejoicing & Gratitude, keeping our eyes on the prize of a world of goodness by tapping into what good is already here, all around us, all the time.
While this is a completely secular offering — open to folks of any religious tradition or no religious inclinations whatsoever — the program tips its hat to the Tibetan Buddhist three-step pedagogical approach: study, contemplate, and practice. You'll leave each module with concrete tools for body, speech, and mind that cultivate and make habitual what you’ll learn in our in-person workshops and on-line time together. You'll also leave with a greater sense of peace and belief in our collective capacity to persevere — and even thrive — through challenging times.
